First Lady Episode 6 Recap

The episode opens with Su-yeon watching the news of Yang Hoon’s arrest, and she wonders whether he is trying to use Hwa-jin in some elaborate scheme. She decides to meet the current First Lady and hands over Yoo Jin-myeong’s tapes to her sneakily. The two eventually go out for a meal together to discuss further steps. Meanwhile, Min-cheol continues to try and stop Hae-rin’s influence from seeping into his party, but it proves to be tougher than expected.

As the President and his wife wonder whether this is the end of all the blackmail and his wife tells him to stop the madness before Su-yeon destroys everything. She later meets Min-cheol, and her words finally make him realise that it might have been Su-yeon who has been blocking his Special Act all this time. In the end, she advises him to choose either his wife or the Special Act, but he can’t protect both.

He later calls Su-yeon to get answers about her deal with the President 5 years ago and asks what her choice would be in his shoes. She icily tells him that she has already made her choice. Elsewhere, Hae-rin is left clueless about why Seon-ho would protect Yoon Ki-ju and now Su-yeon, when she was the one who spun the entire lie surrounding Do Tae-hoon.

Fearing for his campaign, Hae-rin rushes to meet Hwa-jin but realises that she has some other part-time job that no one apparently knows about. Later, Su-yeon speaks to Noh Cheol-jae, Jo Hyun-seok and Han Kyung-ae, in Hyun-gyo’s presence, and thanks them for stopping the Special Act and, in the same breath, cuts Hyun-gyo off for going over the boundaries of his job.

As Su-yeon enjoys her highs for the moment, Min-cheol meets the guy who installed the bugs on Su-yeon’s command, as he mentions that she specifically asked for a manual retrieval model rather than a WiFi model. In the end, he employs him to find what deal Su-yeon made with the President 5 years ago and report it directly to him.

Later, Su-yeon meets Yang Hoon and enquires about Hwa-jin, and as it turns out, she’s pregnant. The news leaves Su-yeon completely devastated.

Things are getting heated for Su-yeon and Min-cheol, who are both left shocked at what they are learning about one another. While Su-yeon’s capabilities are quite disturbingly impressive, are Hwa-jin’s claims about Min-cheol’s baby the truth, or is it just another lie fabricated by someone who wants to see him fall? The series is getting more and more complex by the minute, with characters being introduced at every turn who are ready to do the most insane stuff. In the end, I can’t help but wait with bated breath for what’s to come!
