HBO’s Euphoria Season 2 Episode 3 now takes a dark turn. Lexi is looking forward to sharing a story for the play in high school. Rue shares how Lexi also saw herself as an observer. She always used to think of her family drama as a TV show. All the people in her life are actors who are playing a part. But with time, people drifted away, and Lexi started writing stories. Cassie is still obsessed with Nate. She wakes up at 4, takes 3 hours to get ready and is excited to see Nate in college. Every day he ignores her, which makes her restless. One day, she dresses up like Maddy, and Nate just looks at her for a second.

Even though Nate ignores Cassie in high school, they still have sex in his car and room. Lexi’s play ‘Okhlahoma’ gets approval at high school, and auditions begin. In the washroom, Rue, Maddy, and Kat question Cassie’s dress. They all assume she’s auditioning for the play. An angry Cassie ends up yelling (confessing) about how she’s in love with Nate, they’ve been sleeping together and how she betrayed Maddy. As we wait for everyone’s reaction, it turns out she said all this in her head. In reality, Cassie just ignored what others said about her clothes.

Ethan and Kat have dinner with his parents. Ethan’s mom asks Kat, “Tell us about yourself?” Kat goes into panic mode and seconds later says she’s still figuring out. Ethan’s mom gives an awkward reaction which freaks out Kat. At high school, Ethan auditions for Lexi’s play and gets selected. He texts the same to his girlfriend Kat, who is unbothered.

Rue, Jules and Elliot get along together and play truth and dare. Later, Rue develops a business plan to sell drugs. After Fez pays no heed to her plan, Rue meets Laurie. She tells Laurie that some of her friends in high school will sell drugs. Laurie is impressed with Rue’s plan and gives her drugs worth $50K. Laurie hands Rue a big bag full of drugs and warns, “If you screw me, I’ll have you kidnapped and sold to some real sick people.” Laurie tells Rue that she always finds a way to get back her money.

Rue attends a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and takes the suitcase along. Ali is suspicious about the bag and asks Rue’s what’s in it. Rue gives rude answers. Ali tells her not to blow him off as she does to her parent. Rue rudely answers that no one asked him to be a parent. Her answer angers Ali, who tells her that if she crosses that line again, they’re done. Rue says that if she crosses the line, will he hit her! At night, Rue opens the suitcase and is blown away to see so much drugs. She starts taking some of it.

At the same time, Elliot and Jules talk about Rue is not sexual. Elliot calls Rue asexual and how Jules is sexual. Jules is flattered by the compliment. The episode ends with Cassie waiting for Nate at the usual meeting spot. However, he ditches her and goes to meet Maddy instead with flowers.

Euphoria Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Final Thoughts

Today’s episode was of one hour but so much happened that it feels like an entire series. Cassie really needs professional help to stop obsessing over Nate. She’s not only ruining her friendship with Maddy but ruining her life and crushing the little confidence and respect she has for herself. Like Cassie, Rue also needs help because all she cares about is drugs. But she hurts everyone who tries to help her. So we don’t know what will happen with her this season.

The episode was hard-hitting, intriguing and very serious. Even the humour in between felt like a hard hit on the head. Too much is happening that’s making us curious to see how the characters will ruin their and other people’s lives in the coming episodes.

The episode is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
