Planning to Watch Euphoria Season 2? Here’s All You Need to Know

Sam Levinson’s Euphoria Season 2 is on its way and, we couldn’t be more excited about it! The series that premiered in the year 2019 with its first season left us gasping for breath with its intense storyline. Loosely based on the Israeli television miniseries by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin of the same name, the show was a massive success amongst teens and adults alike. Following the story of a group of high school students, the show delves into the experiences of sex, love, drugs, trauma, identity and friendships faced by our characters.

Euphoria consists of an ensemble cast led by the show protagonist Zendaya, who a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in this show. The cast is made up of Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, and Colman Domingo. The show has received many awards and season 2 has been on our waitlist for a long time. However, before the airing of Euphoria Season 2, let us have a look back at the story so far.

Euphoria Season 1: The Story of Rue & Jules

Rue (played by Zendaya) and Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) meet during the first season of Euphoria and Rue is immediately captured by Jules. Rue, a recovering drug addict, slips back time and again to her addiction while her romance and friendship with Jules bubble. Nonetheless, Rue is majorly anxious and insecure about her feelings for Jules and suffers depressive episodes throughout the show.

Jules is the new girl in town and her life keeps getting as complicated as it can with the passage of every episode. She strikes up a chord with Rue but when she meets a girl named Anna, she is in splits as she seems to accept that she is in love with both and lets Rue know this. Additionally, there is also Nate (played by Jacob Elordi) in this story who misuses Jules’ vulnerability and gets hold of her nude pictures and blackmails her.

By the end of the season, we feel that there is hope for our duo to be together when they decide to leave the town. However, at the end, when Jules shows up at the train station, she is not joined by Rue. Euphoria Season 1 ends with Jules boarding the train and leaving the town, alone while, Rue stays back.

Two one hour specials were broadcast before the release of Euphoria season 2 in December 2020 about Rue and in January 2021 about Jules. Both the episodes delved deeper into the lives of the characters individually and how distant they are from one another. The upcoming season is going to pick up the note from hereon now.
