Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill – Vote For the Next James Bond You Want to See?

Since Daniel Craig’s outing as the legendary character James Bond, a lot of actors have shown their interest in taking on the role, starting from Red Notice’s Dwayne Johnson to Loki’s Tom Hiddleston. The character created by Ian Fleming for his literary book series of the same name has over the years become an icon everyone looks up to. From casually drinking vodka martini, shaken not stirred to loving vintage Aston Martins, fans have raged on and on about the icon’s characteristic features and habits, even incorporating them in their own lives as a tribute.

However, deciding on who will fill in Craig’s big shoes is still a question floating around in the air. Daniel Craig was responsible to lead five films in the James Bond Universe- Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021). He was also the only person to play the role of James Bond over the age of 50. Which leaves room for other actors, both young and old to take over his legacy. Let us have a look at the ones who’ve either expressed their desire to play the role or have been rumoured to be the next James Bond!

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson aka., The Rock recently starred in Netflix’s Red Notice as a cop. The aura Johnson provided to the role lets us wonder if he would be a good pick for being the next James Bond. However, this speculation is not the first time the actor has been linked to the franchise. A lesser-known fact is Johnson’s grandfather, Peter Fanene Maivia, was a SPECTRE member resulting in him being the villain in the 1967 Bond film You Only Live Twice.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson has also expressed his desire to play Agent 007 in the future franchise following the footsteps of the iconic Bond from the 60’s Sean Connery in an interview with Esquire.

Idris Elba

The Luther actor was first petitioned in our minds to play the next James Bond by singer Adele when she was speaking to Vogue for their ’73 Questions’ series. Elba who portrayed Bloodsport in the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’ seems like an ideal choice for the role which will also provide a sense of diversity to the character. However, the only possible drawback can be the fact that he is approaching the age of 50, keeping him on the line.

Henry Cavill

Superman and The Witcher, Henry Cavill is known to play some major iconic and legendary characters in the world of cinema. So it would be a pleasant surprise to see him suit up to be the next James Bond. We have already witnessed his action-packed performance in DCU and Mission Impossible 6 and, his gravitas in Netflix’s The Witcher and Elona Holmes (playing Sherlock).

However, our actor in question has not limited his interest to the protagonist of the franchise. He is, in fact, open to playing any character! How would it look if Henry Cavill turns out to be a SPECTRE villain instead of Agent 007?

Tom Hiddleston

The Loki actor is well-known for his mischievous role in Marvel but, his phenomenal performance in Amazon Prime’s The Night Manager makes him a perfect pick to play the next James Bond. In fact, the actor has left fans with a cryptic response to the rumours of him being the next Bond in an interview with Empire Magazine.
