Down The Rabbit Hole Plot

The plot of the movie revolves around Tochtli, a 10-year-old boy living in Mexico City, whose unique interests include hats, dictionaries, samurais, guillotines, and all things French. Raised in a world of opulence and culture by his father, Yolcaut, Tochtli’s life takes a darker turn as he becomes aware of his father’s involvement in criminal activities.

From the trailer, we get to know that despite the luxuries surrounding him, Tochtli craves something more – a new addition to his private zoo: a Namibian pygmy hippo. Unfazed by the endangered status of the animal, Yolcaut is determined to fulfil his son’s desires, no matter the cost. As they navigate the dangerous underworld of smuggling and illicit deals, father and son confront the moral ambiguity of their actions and the consequences of their privileged existence.
