Dilip Kumar Passes Away; PM Narendra Modi and Bollywood Offer Condolences

The nation woke up to heartbreaking news as veteran actor Dilip Kumar passes away. The legendary actor was 98 and was admitted to Hinduja Hospital on June 30 due to medical issues. Saira Banu has been by the actor’s side all the time. The news of his demise was posted on Kumar’s official Twitter account by Faisal Farooqui.

Faisal Farooqui wrote, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. – Faisal Farooqui.” In another tweet on the official account, it is mentioned that the burial will take place today at 5 PM. The tweet reads, “Burial today at 5:00 PM. Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai.”

The news of Dilip Kumar’s demise has shaken the nation, and many condolences posts are shared online. From PM Narendra Modi to several Bollywood stars, many of them have paid their respects to the cinematic legend.

PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP.”

President of India Ram Nath Kovind wrote, “Dilip Kumar summarised in himself a history of emerging India. The thespian’s charm transcended all boundaries, and he was loved across the subcontinent. With his demise, an era ends. Dilip Saab will live forever in the heart of India. Condolences to family and countless fans.”

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “T 3958 – An institution has gone .. whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written , it shall always be ‘before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar’ ..
My duas for peace of his soul and the strength to the family to bear this loss ..
Deeply saddened.”

Ajay Devgn also offered condolences to the late actor. He tweeted, “Shared many moments with the legend…some very personal, some on stage. Yet, nothing really prepared me for his passing away. An institution, a timeless actor. Heartbroken.
Deepest condolences to Sairaji🙏🏼 DilipKumar”.

As Dilip Kumar passes away at 98, many people on Twitter have called it ‘End of an Era’ in the Indian cinema. The phrase ‘End of an Era’ is one of the top Twitter trends. One netizen has shared, “The passing of legendary Dilip Kumar truly marks the end of an era. He was the last to leave Bollywood’s triumvirate of the iconic superstar”.

Another Twitter user wrote, “A purist par excellence. A man who will continue to inspire generations to come. A human being so sophisticated and refined that chapters could be written on the cadence of each line he spoke. End of an era that will nonetheless remain timeless. #DilipKumar #RestInPeace”.
