Devil May Cry Review
The plot of the series follows a time when sinister forces are trying to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of this plan is the orphaned demon hunter Dante, who has the fate of this plan hanging around his neck. This makes him not just the target of demons but also a special force of demon hunters called the DARKCOM, who try to snatch the stone to keep it safe from the hands of demons. Soon, chaos erupts and Dnate needs to choose a side that will soon see the win.
For someone who has no knowledge about the game, I have to say, this plot has me captivated without a doubt. Seeing the way things play out in this show has me thinking about whom we label as saviours and who we call the villains. This show plays both sides in a way that opens up our perspective to the unknown that has been presented to us in ways that nurture our visions of the same. However, not everything that we are being shown is right, and not everything that is hidden is wrong.
I absolutely love the plot of the show and the many themes that it has presented to us through a mere 8 episodes of approximately 30 minutes runtime. From brainwashing to madness, adoption, trying to do the right, and more, there is a lot happening in this show and yet it is able to bring everything in a way that doesn’t seem like a mess. This show makes me curious about the game as well as to know who the real villains are, or if there is even a villain. The way it twists and challenges one’s thought process makes me intrigued about the characters, the storyline and even some big organisations that so easily twist facts.
While the plot is certainly intriguing, the animation, too, is something that we need to talk about. It is simply wonderful- the colours, the brightness, the cinematography, and the way every character is designed give viewers a full-blown experience of this world. Even the demons are well designed and put together in ways that show their unique self while also keeping their expressions intact.
Altogether, this series has surprised me and captivated me in a way that keeps me curious about how things will turn out. Surely the show is not over, and I hope that Netflix renews it for Season 2 as soon as possible!
