Conan Gray Mesmerises the Korean Audience on ‘The Show’ With His Performance

Conan Gray, the US singer who rose to fame with his commercially successful singles Maniac and Heather, from his debut studio album Kid Krow (2020) has made his debut on the Korean Music show as well. On 9 August 2022, he appeared on the SBS music show titled ‘The Show’ and performed his song Memories.

His first album debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200, making it the biggest US new artist debut of the year and continuing on the success he released his second studio album, Superache (2022), which received critical acclaim and debuted within the top 10 in many countries. Memories is part of his second album which also includes tracks like Disaster and People Watching.

However, his singles Maniac and Heather were very successful in South Korea as well. Many Kpop idols even covered the song or created TikToks using the song. Earlier he even featured on famed DJ Wendy’s SBS radio program Young street. Where the member of the girl group Red Velvet, Wendy, told Gray the know-how of the music shows and the concept of ending fairy.

The performance stage has been designed to accommodate the singer and his band and to visually showcase what the song is about. The smoke-filled floor with white hanging curtains gives depth to the stage. Added with the decoration of the stage props with red coloured flowers and green climbers, is the perfect colour pop needed in this elegant performance.

Meanwhile, Conan Gray appears in denim jeans and a cropped jacket with jewels attached to it. Paired with a transparent net textured shirt and a striped tie. While his wavy hairs are styled naturally. And needless to say, he even nailed the ending fairy pose by looking straight at the camera while flower petals fall on the stage.

Before him, the British pop trio New Hope Club also performed on Korean music shows and oddly enough, once Usher also appeared on the Inkigayo music show. Fans are now asking if any other big artists like Justin Bieber or Ariana Grande will come next, considering they are under the Hybe Label as well, which might make it possible.
