Choose Love Review: Netflix’s romantic comedy interactive movie is now out. It stars Laura Marano as Cami Conway, Scott Michael Foster as Paul, Avan Joglier as Rex Galier, Jordi Webber as Jack Menna and others. Directed by Stuart McDonald, it is written by Josann McGibbon. The runtime is 1 hour 17 minutes.
Choose Love Review Contains Mild Spoilers
If you love watching rom-coms with love triangles, you must have wished sometimes the ending to be different. You imagined yourself as the protagonist with multiple choices in men and get to select the one that suits you the most. Netflix has made the dream come true with the Choose Love movie, where as the audience, you get to decide for Cami.
Cami is in a happy relationship with Paul. But as she tells her Tarot card reader, there’s something “missing” in the relationship. But she comes across the “one that got away,” Jack, who makes her wonder what could’ve been. They meet and talk and decide to catch up again. I made a choice not to let that happen. Well, it didn’t matter.
The third man in her life is a musician named Rex Galier, with whom she has to work for a jingle. It was such an awkward sequence. It felt like Rex was showing interest in Cami because he had to. The build-up of their chemistry wasn’t done well.

In the interactive, we have to make a choice for Cami, whether she goes on lunch with Jack or Overshares about herself when Rex asks her out. While watching the interactive, I made a choice that Cami doesn’t go with Jack because she’s already in a relationship. But it makes no difference because the makers have already set the narrative in such a way that she ends up meeting Jack!
My most favourite Netflix interactive has been Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. In the 2018 interactive, whatever choices we made severely impacted our protagonist. I remember playing the interactive multiple times to see the outcome with different decisions. Here, our decisions for Cami have no impact as the story moves forward, just as the makers intend it to be, except for the silly ending.

Choose Love on Netflix is quite boring, with no chemistry between any characters. Cami breaking the fourth wall doesn’t help the viewer connect with her. Even the questions put forward to use aren’t amusing, either.
Choose Love Review: Final Thoughts
Choose Love would’ve been better as a normal movie. No matter what choices we make, the narrative hardly gets affected. Even the entire “sad” scene between Paul and Cami feels superficial. The interactive lacks real emotions. In the end, we have to make a choice for Cami between Paul, Jack and Rex. I chose Paul only because he was her boyfriend from the beginning. I saw no spark between her and any of the three men.

There was nothing interesting and fun in this interactive movie. Best to skip it and play those Choices games on your phone.
The interactive movie is now streaming on Netflix.
