CDC & Microsoft?
The CDC has taken the help of Microsoft’s Healthcare Bot service to create a COVID-19 analysis chatbot. It will screen Americans who are unsure of seeking medical care. The Coronavirus Self Checker bot asks a series of questions based on CDC guidelines about symptoms (such as difficulty in breathing, fever). It then provides suggestions on whether to self-isolate, consult with a health professional, or visit a hospital.
Microsoft’s Healthcare Bot service is one solution that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help the CDC and other such organizations. It responds to the inquiries which save time for the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. They can then focus on critical care patients who really need it. The chatbot isn’t meant to aid in the diagnosis or treatment of COVID-19. It simply helps to make correct choices about seeking medical care. The health chatbot runs on Microsoft Azure. While the CDC owns and maintains the tool, it doesn’t share any personal information users enter into the bot with Microsoft.
COVID-19, the disease caused by a newly identified coronavirus was first detected in China in December and has rapidly spread across the globe. The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the outbreak a pandemic. It’s expected to see a rapid increase in the number of detected cases and deaths. Globally the virus has infected 381,761 causing 16,558 deaths until now.
Most of the affected countries are under complete lockdown and the Government is trying to deal with the situation with strict measures as required. The badly affected countries are China, Italy, Iran, the U.S, Spain, Germany, India, South Korea any many more being added by the minute to the unfortunate list.
