South Korean K-pop girl group Red Velvet is back with Birthday Music Video, and fans worldwide cannot get enough of it! The K-pop group has made a comeback with their much anticipated mini-album called The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday. The album along with the music video was unveiled on November 28, 2022 at 6PM KST.
Produced by SM Entertainment, the new track has been sampled from a classical music piece called Gershwin’s – Rhapsody in Blue (1924). Their previous song Feel My Rhythm was also sampled from a classical track. Following RV, many other K-pop groups also have started sampling from classical tracks.
The music video displays mystical and whimsical visuals where the girls are seen partying in a fantasy land. Various characters inspired by different pop cultures also appear in the video, e.g.; a character similar to Edward Scissorhands. The use of vivid colors, floating objects, and flashy costumes make the music video stand out and be unique. The imaginary world is filled with huge chocolates and candies all around.

The lyrics of the song are fun and light-hearted. It mainly conveys that one should live their life to the fullest and have fun like it is our birthday every day. The makeup and styling are alluring which elevates the music video. Along with a powerful choreography Red Velvet yet again lives up to their name.
Red Velvet is 5 member girl group consisting of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday is their second comeback in 2022. Seulgi also made a solo debut earlier this year with a mini-album called 28 Reasons. The songs of the group surround their concept, ‘Red’ portraying their playful, cute and powerful side meanwhile ‘Velvet’ displays their softer and natural side.
There are four b-sides in the mini album, namely, BYE BYE, On A Ride, ZOOM, and CELEBRATE. Each of the members displays an eccentric voice and amazing vocal capability. Wendy, the main singer of the group shows off her mesmerizing vocal skills, pulling off extremely high notes. The other members have also stood out without overshadowing each other.

Under SM Entertainment, Red Velvet has been one of the most successful groups in terms of both sales and charts. They have taken the entire South Korea including the Asian continent by storm since their debut. They made a breakthrough in the west with their track Psycho. It is one of the most viewed and most streamed songs from a girl group in K-pop.
