-Big Bet Episode 7 Recap Contains Spoilers-
Resuming right away from last episode’s Baccarat game played by Ms. Ko at the Bolton Casino, we finally get to see the the results of the same, and they turn out to be exactly what most of us may have predicted them to be. She wins big. Having placed a grand bet of 200 hundred million pesos, following So-jung’s lead, Ms. Ko requests Moo-sik to transfer the funds to her Korean account, and all of this is witnessed as well as recorded by Seung-hoon as a piece of evidence against the CEO of Pastella. He turns it in to his higher-ups via email, and is soon pulled into a new homicide case with Mark, his partner – “The Sugarcane Field Murder”.
Moo-sik and Jung-pal arrive at the crime scene and take control of everything, especially since they already know what went down between the Charlie and the victims. Meanwhile, Sung-hoon picks up on investigating the Korean community, which leads him to Young-hee’s restaurant where the victims dined together with Moo-sik and Charlie, aka Kyung-young. As he’s talking to the owner of the place, Charlie and he cross paths, which leads him to another round of interrogation, but Kyung-young attempts to elude everything.

Jung-pal and Moo-sik check out Charlie’s place and the latter informs Sang-gu to freeze Charlie’s account, while Jung-pal finds traces of blood on the backseat of his car. Referring to the last GPS address listed in the car, they next go on to check the victims’ place of accommodation. Another mishap awaits them at the casino where So-jung seems to have run off with Ms. Ko’s funds from the victorious game. Moo-sik starts suspecting Jung-pal for a minute, which dismays his associate and he tells him take control of the situation any way he deems plausible if he’s discovered to be an accomplice in the crime.
Philip, however, tries his best to hide his guilty face and conceals the red lighter given to him by Moo-sik, which he left behind at So-jung’s place, but Moo-sik catches on quick.
Two more Korean detectives arrive in the Philippines since the homicide case involves the murder of the white-collar criminals on the run. They pick up on the investigation with Seung-hoon, and Mark alarms him of Moo-sik dropping by at the crime scene, looking like he already knew what was going on.

Thereafter, though the Korean Association head’s help, Seung-hoon sets up a meeting with Moo-sik and his senior officers. They get off on the wrong note, but eventually gather enough facts and information from Moo-sik, who even hands in the evidence he collected with Jung-pal earlier. As they exit from the scene, Jung-pal gains more insight into Moo-sik’s work ethic and the value he attributes to money above all else.
Big Bet Episode 7 Ending
Amidst all these happenings, So-jung tries to transfer 400 million pesos to Korea with plans of returning to the country and getting her mother discharged. Moo-sik keeps on with his series of inspections as he peaks into Philip’s apartment, where he finds a photo o him with So-jung. His sleuth operation at the place aids him in spotting So-jung’s passport along with his, leading him to believe they’re working together.
The same exchange staff So-jung had approached earlier for forwarding the transfer contacts Moo-sik and alerts him of everything. Philip sends a threatening text to So-jung about her deceiving him. Moo-sik has a different plan on his list for him and sends him off to catch So-jung in Manila. He catches up to her with Sang-guys help and begs her to return the money and ask for forgiveness. However, she doesn’t fathom how deep Moo-sik’s contacts go in the Philippines.

As they carry on with their heated discussion on the matter, a traffic inspector approaches, who turns out to be a snipe shooter instead and kills them on the spot. Both Sang-gu and the exchange staff member are knocked off their feet with the incident having befallen in their proximity. Sang-gu spots John on the scene, who is the actual mastermind of the operation.
Big Bet Episode 7 Review
We all knew what was coming for Philip and So-jung, yet, still, the actual execution of the plan, that too, in broad daylight proves yet again just how little we know about some these foregrounding characters of the series. It isn’t clear whether Moo-sik handed in to the order to John to take them out or if something bigger is at play here, because we’ve mostly seen John answer to ‘the big boss’, and even that reference isn’t tapped into fully, leaving us with even more questions on our plate than answers.

John’s character is definitely an intriguing fit into the show, and till now, the series of events surrounding his role have kept him hidden in the clouds, further adding to his inscrutable surreptitious enigma. It makes sense that the series was introduced as a two part deal, with the second season dropping soon after the finale of the first season. With only one episode remaining to close the first chapter next week, we still barely know much about these characters.
While this may have initially inhibited our chances of accepting them as likeable characters, it’s now turned into the show’s founding mysterious charm. It keeps pulling one back, if not for anything else, but to find out more about the characters’ respective roles, ultimately leading us to Min Seok-jun’s impending murder.
Big Bet episode 7 is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
