Batgirl: New Set Pics Reveal JK Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon Look

Batgirl is the upcoming DC movie directed by Ms. Marvel’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The screenplay for the film is written by Christina Hodson, known for her work in films like Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and the upcoming The Flash movie. The film is going to star Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. The other cast members include J. K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser and, Michael Keaton’s iconic Batman will make a return in this film.

With such big names attached to the project, it is impossible to keep calm about how it might turn out to be. Previously released set pictures showed a Batman and Robin mural set up for the film, along with certain Black Canary graffiti work here and there. Given how Batgirl is Black Canary’s close friend and has a thing with Robin, it will not be surprising to see these characters in the upcoming film.

However, the new set images are far more grounded and solid, giving us the first look at JK Simmons’ character. Simmons has been widely present in the Sony Spiderman Universe, the Marvel Spiderman Universe as well as the DC’s Batman Universe. For SSU and MCU, Simmons had taken up the notorious role of Jameson. However, when it comes to DC, Simmons seemed to have switched to the better side. The actor has already appeared as Commissioner James Gordon in the DCEU films including Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). The actor is reprising his role in the upcoming Batgirl film.
