And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 Review: The Grief That Makes COVID Come Back to Life

And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 Review: This HBO series is developed by Michael Patrick King. It serves as the revival and a sequel of the old classic Sex and the City which was created by Darren Star, based on Candace Bushnell’s newspaper column and 1996 book anthology of the same name.

The main cast for the show features Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York Goldenblatt, Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino, David Eigenberg as Steve Brady, Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt, Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz and Sarita Choudhury as Seema Patel. Other cast members include Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley, Karen Pittman as Dr. Nya Wallace, Bobby Lee as Jackie Nee, Chris Jackson as Herbert Wexley, LeRoy McClain as Andre Rashad Wallace, Cathy Ang as Lily Goldenblatt, Alexa Swinton as Rose Goldenblatt, Niall Cunningham as Brady Hobbes, Cree Cicchino as Luisa Torres, Ivan Hernandez as Franklyn and Brenda Vaccaro as Gloria Marquette.

There are going to be some new faces in the second season. We will see John Corbett as Aidan Shaw, and Candice Bergen as Enid Frick alongside Tony Danza, Sam Smith and Victor Garber. The biggest surprise is, of course, the return of Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.

The third episode of And Just Like That Season 2 is out now. It is titled ‘Chapter Three’ and is written by Julie Rottenberg & Elisa Zuritsky. The runtime of the episode is 44 minutes.

And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 Review: Chapter Three

And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 has amped up the show’s game in some sense. There is a very quintessential development in Carrie’s grief plotline that makes sense alongside Miranda taking the much-needed stance that has been lacking throughout the end of last season and during the premiere of this one.

The episode shows us how Carrie is offered to read the audiobook version of her book. The offer is amazing and, as viewers already know, Carrie is a good narrator. However, reading her book would mean reliving the bed of memories she has crossed to come to where she is.

Most importantly, it would mean that Carrie would have to welcome back Big, or the memory of Big in her life. This triggers our protagonist to realise how she might be still grieving her dead husband, prompting her to make a ‘caught covid’ excuse to hide away.

Meanwhile, Miranda has a tough time in this episode and, one can say that we are finally getting to know Che, on a deeper and darker level. Brady, Miranda’s son has gone through a breakup making him suicidal. As a good and alarmed mother, Miranda tries to keep herself available and open to her son which does not sit well with Che. In fact, when she decides to visit him, Che’s response is rather toxic.

Apart from these two characters, And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 does not give us much of the rest. Charlotte’s storyline is still caught in a chase between being a mother and being a mother (sigh). Seema seems underutilized on so many levels. But at least Nya and Lisa get some time together in this episode that screams girl power and does not fail to leave a smile on our faces.

And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3: Final Thoughts

Overall, And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 3 was a good one. There was a lot of character progress and the show seems to be taking itself rather seriously to impact us in some way. Hopefully, over the course of the next episodes, there is more that strengthens its core.
