A Normal Woman Ending Explained
The film opens with Milla sitting through an uncomfortable magazine photoshoot with her family. It’s clear that she is unhappy in her marriage, and her wants and needs are overshadowed by her mother-in-law’s whims. She’s also under pressure from her mother, who demands money from her. Jonathan doesn’t want to give her more money for fear of her mother, and Milla promises to talk to her mother. The conflict doesn’t stop with Milla, because her mother-in-law influences her daughter as well, who now wants to get plastic surgery.
Overwhelmed, she starts scratching herself, leaving Jonathan worried for her. The doctor calls it stress, and the family is confused about this new issue. Milla herself is confused about what is going on, but she promises never to embarrass him again. However, things get worse as she starts to hallucinate someone called Grace, and when Irah mentions the name as well, she rushes to her mother’s house to find out the truth.
Who is Grace?

When everyone refuses to give her answers, Milla starts to remember bits and pieces from her childhood, including the fact that she herself might be Grace. She gets back memories about going through an operation and her mother and Irah being a part of it. Later, when Erika, the makeup artist, arrives, she exclaims about Grace when she spots Irah. Angel overhears the conversation and asks Erika for help, and Milla immediately remembers Erika, her best friend from childhood.
Thus, as it turns out, Milla is actually Grace, and the talk about Angel getting plastic surgery triggers past memories for Milla, who had, till then, forgotten about what happened to her.
What is Erika’s role in this?

Erika comes off as a great friend to Milla and realises that she must have gone through plastic surgery to alter her appearance. With her living situation getting more and more precarious by the minute, she snoops in on Milla’s family, implying that she looked different when she was younger. She tells Jonathan about the accident and that Milla was disfigured afterwards. She implores him to speak to Novi, and a rattled Jonathan does exactly that.
It becomes clear after Milla is locked in her room that Erika wants to marry Jonathan and live a comfortable life. She starts to play nicely with Jon and Liliana, and Angel sees right through it. Milla sends Erika to the party wearing her clothes and jewellery, and she tries to take in all the attention that she can get, hoping to be the next mistress of the house. Although it’s not shown whether she did marry Jonathan, it seems like she has weaselled her way into their good graces, so maybe she did in the end.

Why did Novi make Milla go through plastic surgery?
Since she was little, Milla was told that she was not pretty. Novi, too, disliked her daughter’s appearance and, when Milla had the devastating accident, she took it as an opportunity to alter her appearance, hoping that it will open more doors for her and snag her a rich husband.
What happens in the end?

Realising that she will only rot away in this house, Milla decides that it’s time to leave all of it behind. She implores Angel to come, but she chooses to stay and make a path for herself. With the two women saying goodbye for the last time, Milla tries to leave, but Novi stops her. They get into an altercation, leading to Milla injuring her face, the very thing that everyone around her wanted around for.
We eventually see Milla dreaming about the simple life that she will get to live in her hometown, away from societal expectations and falsehood.
