A Model Family (2022) Review: A Family Man Taking Desperate Measures to the Next Level

The thrill in the South Korean entertainment industry continues with A Model Family and this Netflix release is here to take you on a satirical ride in a drug cartel. Starring Jung Woo, Park Hee-soon, Yoon Jin-seo, Park Ji-yeon along with other cast members, the show is directed by Kim Ji-won.

The story of A Model Family revolves around a family that is facing dire financial situations which is leading to many problems and a possible separation. However, the family soon gets involved with the members of a drug cartel and now have to complete missions that will bring them face to face with some deadly situations.

Netflix’s synopsis reads:

After unwittingly stealing money from a cartel, a cash-strapped professor finds the only way to save his broken family is by working as a drug courier.

-A Model Family review does not contain spoilers-

Like most South Korean dramas, this show starts off with an intense scene which is to come later in the show, as Park Dong-ha (Jung Woo) narrates the most common reason for deaths being money. Then we are taken back to days before this scene and are shown what led to Park Dong-ha being buried alive by a member of a drug cartel.

We witness the troubles that are surrounding the protagonist and his desperation to bring money to his family. And when fate brings him to a pile of cash he does not hesitate to take it, even if it meant letting go of his law-abiding role and hiding dead bodies.

As the show proceeds, we see him working for a guy in the drug ring named Gwang Cheol (Park Hee-soon) who wants to level up his position. The show will then take you through twists and turns as the timid man’s separation brings him to situations that are out of the ordinary for someone like him.

The show can be said to be in line with others like Breaking Bad, Ozark, and so on, but the South Korean entertainment industry is known to take things to the next level. And this show could not be left out, which means that you will get on a ride with more thrill and suspense than ever.

The actors and child actors have done a marvelous job in their respective roles and the theme is carried out really well. The same can be said for the cinematography which induces the seriousness of the show in a very beautiful way. The show has definitely done justice to the excitement created by the trailer which makes this a show that you should not miss.

The drama also brings in the satricial element which makes the show more intense, sets it apart from other dramas and will show you some really dark elements of the society. The chain of events that make the plot and lead it to the ending will make you want to binge watch the show.

But this is not all, the show will bring to you an ending that will only have you ask for more because that is how amazing this show has turned out to be.

Summing Up: A Model Family (2022)

For those who are looking for a thrilling weekend filled with binge watching, this is the show that you should go for. It is definitely worth streaming and will be a good watch.

The show has been dubbed in different languages and can be enjoyed by anyone, however, there are a few nude scenes that I will warn you about. But they aren’t many and you shouldn’t miss the show because of one or two scenes that can be skipped.
