Dynamite Kiss Episode 1 Recap
The episode opens with Go Da-min having a vivid dream on the bus as she rushes to get to the academy. She has been working on this civil service exam for 5 years and is bullied by the professor because of it. However, she is easy to forgive, especially when she is given an incentive for it. However, she is extremely unhappy with her life and wonders how long she will hide behind the exam.
When she comes home, her sister hands her tickets to Jeju Island, hoping to send her away for the duration of her wedding because she has lied to her in-laws about what she does. Either way, Da-min tries to lighten the mood and acts excited not to upset her sister. Meanwhile, Gong Ji-hyuk finds himself in a bind when his marriage is fixed with Yu Ha-young.

As Ji-hyuk tries to recruit Kim Jeong-gwon, a star developer, Da-min is surprised to see that her loser ex-boyfriend is now a hotshot in the industry, and surprisingly, he is in Jeju as well. Unbeknownst to them both, they both head to Jeju Island, but for very different reasons. Either way, Da-rim stumbles upon Jeong-gwon, who is now dating an old friend, and after a very awkward conversation, she rushes out of there, after lying about having a boyfriend.
After having a rather terrible day, Da-min is shocked to see Ji-hyuk having what can only be described as a “moment” on the cliff and assumes the worst. She tries to stop him from ending his life, not realising that he was celebrating a moment ago. Either way, an annoyed Ji-hyeok leaves the bill for her to pay, and she scrambles to let the last few notes out of her hand.

The next morning, by a stroke of luck, Da-rim stumbles upon Ji-hyuk at her hotel and immediately accuses him of taking advantage of her. Meanwhile, Ji-hyuk sees Jeong-gwon and is immediately intrigued, but is possibly unaware of Da-rim’s connection with him. Thus, when she introduces him as her boyfriend, the lies just go out of hand, and Ji-hyuk gets right into the role of becoming Da-rim’s boyfriend. It’s an embarrassing and extremely awkward time for Da-rim, especially when he calls them for a party that night.
But it’s already too late to back down for anyone, and she has to go along with his plan. After a striking makeover, Da-rim wins Ji-hyeok’s heart as the two go to the party together. Ji-hyeok even puts a ring on her finger to make Jeong-gwon jealous (of course). That night, at the party, everyone is mesmerised by Da-rim’s beauty, and Jeong-gwon is clearly jealous. However, when he proposes to recruit him, he sees through their charade and mocks Da-rim.

However, she gives him a taste of his own medicine, and even though Jeong-gwon tries to quiz Ji-hyeok later, he passes with flying colours. Either way, Da-rim eventually rushes him out of the “interrogation”, and the two think about the next steps until Jeong-gwon walks up to them. In a moment of panic, she kisses him to shut him up, resulting in them sharing a rather awkward kiss. In a surprising twist, however, Ji-hyeok asks for another kiss, and the two passionately kiss one another.
Dynamite Kiss Episode 1 Review

What a fantastic first episode that is not only hilariously unhinged but also heart-flutteringly romantic. Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin share fantastic chemistry, and it’s just such an entertaining episode that you can’t help but immediately want to go to the next episode. This one is hopefully going to hold on to the vibes and will deliver something mushy and dramatic. Either way, I am here to watch the leads, and I think it’s going to be fantastic.
