Nice to Not Meet You Episode 4 Recap

Episode 4 of Nice to Not Meet You begins with the much-anticipated blind date between Hyun-jun and Jung-sin. Both are left speechless when they come face to face, utterly unprepared to see each other in such a setting. Hyun-jun is momentarily captivated, unable to recognise Jung-sin at first. Her elegant dress and polished look are a far cry from her usual no-nonsense journalistic style. It only takes a few awkward moments before they realise the setup was arranged by their brothers, who happen to be friends. The revelation leaves them both embarrassed, and they decide to end the date right there.

However, the encounter lingers in their minds. In the days that follow, neither Hyun-jun nor Jung-sin can shake the memory of that evening. While they attempt to carry on with their lives, fate continues to entangle them in unexpected ways.

Meanwhile, Hyun-jun’s mother, Seong Ae-suk, receives a surprising offer to star in a new film, marking her return to the screen after years away from the limelight. The announcement stirs controversy as the public revisits her past roles in erotic films. Jung-sin recognises Seong Ae-suk as Hyun-jun’s mother, which draws the attention of her editor, Yun Hwa-yeong. Spotting an opportunity for an exclusive, Hwa-yeong instructs Jung-sin to write a feature on Seong Ae-suk, especially since little is known about Hyun-jun’s private life.

Jung-sin hesitates, aware of how personal the story might feel, but receives encouragement from Joo Jae-hyung, the confident head of the sports department and a member of the family that owns their media outlet. He advises her to treat it as a professional task. Motivated by his advice, Jung-sin proceeds to publish the article, ensuring Hyun-jun’s agency is informed beforehand.

Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t be worse. The story is released while Hyun-jun is attending a press conference. Reporters bombard him with questions about his mother’s past, and the pressure proves too much. He suffers a panic attack in front of the cameras, sparking further headlines. Later, he confronts Jung-sin, demanding an apology for what he sees as a betrayal.

In a tense exchange, Jung-sin refuses to back down. She tells him firmly that he should not be ashamed of his mother’s past and reminds him that times have changed. What mattered then no longer defines who they are now. During the conversation, another misunderstanding between them is cleared up: Hyun-jun’s long-held belief that Jung-sin worked as a hostess. She reveals she had been working undercover as a journalist at the time. Hurt by his assumptions, she storms off, leaving him shaken.

Ironically, the article ends up improving Seong Ae-suk’s public image, sparking sympathy and admiration rather than scandal. Yet, Hyun-jun remains emotionally unsettled. Seeking clarity, he visits a tarot reader who advises him to slow down and avoid hasty decisions. Taking the advice to heart, he turns down a drama project opposite Se-na and decides to stick with another season of his current detective series.

Meanwhile, Jung-sin uncovers a new lead in her investigation involving Assemblyman Park. A hostess reveals that Se-na was present during a suspicious meeting linked to the case. As Jung-sin connects the dots, Hyun-jun coincidentally runs into Se-na outside a café. She leans in and whispers something in his ear that leaves him visibly stunned. The scene fades out, closing Episode 4 on a chilling note that hints at deeper secrets yet to come.

Nice to Not Meet You Episode 4 Review

Nice to Not Meet You episode 4 truly finds its rhythm, mixing awkward comedy, emotional chaos, and newsroom drama with the precision of a well-shaken cocktail. The blind date between Hyun-jun and Jung-sin is both hilariously uncomfortable and unexpectedly heartfelt, proving that their chemistry thrives even when they’re at odds. But what really makes this episode shine is how it balances humour and heartbreak. Hyun-jun’s panic attack feels raw and real, while Jung-sin’s fierce confrontation with him is the emotional slap the story needed. Add a mysterious whisper from Se-na to end things, and you’ve got an episode that leaves you gasping, giggling, and begging for more. If this is what “not meeting” looks like, we’ll take it every week.
