Tell Me Lies Episode 8: Don’t Go Wasting Your Emotion
Tell Me Lies Episode 8 is slipping deeper into the intangible bond that Lucy is creating with Stephen. Along with that, the latest episode just goes on to show how much trouble it is to keep a secret and how blindsided one can be about love.
The eighth episode of Tell Me Lies shows us how Lucy is having a hard time keeping Macy’s death a secret and like seen in the last episode, she is really angry with Drew. It does not help that she is acting out in front of Diana to prove that Stephen is into her. Toxic, much? Well, wait till you see how Diana has reacted to the entire situation and, somewhere the show has tried to make Stephen look like that good boy which he clearly isn’t.
But apart from Lucy and Stephen’s toxic affair that really makes up most of the show, we get to meet Pippa behind the rude, guarded walls that she has built around herself. She proposes to Wrigley to meet with her father for dinner which isn’t exactly the sweetest affair. We also get to know Pippa at a deeper level when we discover how humiliating her school days have been for her and what it is about sex that she is right about or, well, wrong and confused about. Much like how Bree was explored in one of the previous episodes of Tell Me Lies, Pippa gets the same treatment in the eighth one.

Coming in on a close, the series continues to show us how Macy’s death affects the individuals and the dynamic present in the group. More people are getting to know about what Drew is responsible for and, not everyone is as angry as Lucy which almost pushes her off the edge when it comes to keeping up some stable relationships. The exception she is making for Stephen’s involvement is almost hypocritical at this point given how she is treating Drew.
Tell Me Lies Episode 8: Final Thoughts
Is Tell Me Lies becoming too monotonous with its narrative or is it just me who really cannot keep up with the same subplot being stretched over and over again? Given how we are nearing the end of this season of the show, we still haven’t really unravelled the enigma that Stephen is. In fact, the tiniest revelations that we get are nothing compared to how problematic a person he was in the book. Lucy’s affliction towards Stephen does not help her case as it is really becoming hard to understand what kind of a person she is.
At this point, Bree and Evan are truly the stars of the series, character-wise. The constant tension between the friends should really be confronted face to face and there needs to be bigger beans spilt apart from who’s who in Macy’s death. Hopefully, the next two episodes will take us on a dark-toned, wild ride from which the book the show is adapted from has been famous.
