5 Feel-Good Korean Dramas
Twenty Five Twenty One
Twenty Five Twenty One was one of the most interesting, arresting and feel-good Korean dramas of this year. Filled with heart-thumping competition, sweet friendships and a love story that left us all reeling to know what happens in the next episode, the series had it all. Although the finale wasn’t up to our standards, we couldn’t help but fantasise about what happened to our characters after that controversial last episode!
Twenty Five Twenty One revolves around talented fencer Na Hee-do who is determined to give it all to realise her dreams. Along the way, she makes friends for life and falls in love, making her journey a memorable one. The series stars Kim Tae-ri, Nam Joo-hyuk and Bona, alongside other cast members and has 16 episodes.
Another breaking hit that took care of our heartbreak post the previous title’s sort-of-sad ending was Business Proposal. People couldn’t get enough of Ahn Hyo-seop’s Kang Tae-moo and Kim Se-jeong’s Shin Ha-ri. Their chemistry and the way their character arcs progressed made watching this delicious, with humour and romance blending together seamlessly.
Business Proposal follows Shin Ha-ri and Kang Tae-moo who end up on a blind date after the former disguises herself as her best friend in order to get rid of her prospective suitor. However, a twist of fate lands her in front of her CEO, effectively starting something that neither of them could have ever anticipated. The 12-episode feel-good Korean drama stars Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Kim Min-kyu and Seol In-a in main roles.
Ah, a show about one-sided romance that doesn’t turn out to be a heartbreaking affair for everyone involved. Soundtrack #1 won hearts because of its leads and how sweet both of them were. Approaching the topic of unrequited love with a lot of care and empathy, the series did wonders with and to our hearts and delivered a feel-good Korean drama that you can come back to over and over again.
Soundtrack #1 follows Lee Eun-su and Han Seon-woo, too best friends who have done it all together. However, Seon-woo is desperately in love with Eun-su but is unable to tell her for fear that she would reject him, effectively ending their friendship. But, is there all there is to it? With only 4 episodes, the K-drama stars Han So-hee and Park Hyung-sik as the leads.
An office workplace romance that will make you dream of the perfect office relationship, Shooting Stars is perfect for anyone who enjoys your typical feel-good Korean dramas. The bickering between the leads, the will-they won’t-they tension between them, the chemistry – it’s all there to give us a sweet, entertaining and dramatic look into a romance that is humorous and warm at the same time.
Shooting Stars follows Oh Han-byeol who works as the PR lead of a management company where kind but hot-headed lead talent Gong Tae-sung is associated with. Will their constant bickering and personality clashes turn into something more than just that? The 16-episode long feel-good Korean drama series stars Lee Sung-kyung, Kim Young-dae, Yoon Jong-hoon and Kim Yoon-hye in lead roles.
I am aware that this isn’t the Korean drama that you were looking for. However, Single’s Inferno, unlike the usual dumpster fire dating reality TV shows that Netflix comes up with, is quite entertaining and dramatic – just how we want our reality TV shows to be. The show isn’t trash and is, shockingly, very watchable. The situations that these singles get into and the connections they form are controversial in their own right and make for delicious content that has feel-good touches to it.
Also, the 8-episode series has been renewed for a second season, so this is the time to catch up on the first one to get ready for more drama!
The series follows a group of singles who end up on a remote island to potentially create love connections. However, the road to Heaven is paved with thorns and to get a slice of it, they must go through gruelling tasks and extreme heartbreak. Who will end up together?
